This Privacy Policy describes how the "DefTab: Smart Tab Protector" Chrome extension ("we," "our," or "the extension") handles your information. Your privacy is our top priority, and we are committed to being transparent about our data practices.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

The DefTab extension is designed with privacy at its core. We do NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal information, Browse data, or the content of web pages. Specifically:

• We do not collect your IP address.
• We do not track your Browse activity.
• We do not read the content of the pages you visit.
• We do not require you to create an account.

3. Local Data Storage Only

For its functionality, the extension stores all your settings locally on your device using Chrome's built-in, secure storage API (chrome.storage.sync). This data never leaves your computer. The locally stored data includes:

• The master enabled/disabled status of the extension.
• Your list of excluded websites (the exception list).
• The status of the "Undo Close" feature.
• The status of the "Show Active Notification" feature.
• Your chosen theme for the popup (light/dark).

4. Permissions Used and Their Purpose

The extension requests the minimum permissions necessary for its core functionality:

• storage: Used exclusively to save your settings (exception list, toggle statuses) locally on your device.
• tabs and sessions: Required for the "Undo Close" feature (to get the URL of the last closed tab and restore it) and for the hotkey feature (to get the URL of the current tab).
• notifications: Required to display the system notification with the "Undo" button when you close a tab.
• scripting and host_permissions: ["<all_urls>"]: This permission is essential for the extension's main feature—preventing accidental closing. It allows us to inject a script into all pages to listen for the tab-closing event. We do **not** use this permission to read page content or track your activity.

5. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

We do NOT share, sell, rent, or transfer any data to third parties. The extension does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

6. Your Control and Rights

You have complete control over your data. You can view, modify, and delete your settings at any time within the extension's popup or remove all data by uninstalling the extension.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we make any significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and provide a notice in the extension's description in the Chrome Web Store.
